“No, I don’t because I’ve been listening to music since I was so young. My mamma’s told me that when she was carrying me, she was going through some tough times with my father and they were on the verge of a divorce. And she found her refuge by constantly listening to music. I think that had an impact on me because there are six kids in my family, but none of them are at all musically inclined. That music that she listened to, well, I just absorbed it in the womb.
“She had a stack of old albums by folks like Glen Campbell and Charley Pride and Ray Charles. And she tells me that when I was two years old that I had listened to them so much, that she could say, ‘Tracy, go play me “Wichita Lineman” by Glen Campbell,’ and I could go pick it out by the picture on the cover and count the grooves on the record to the right song. That’s probably an exaggeration, but there were probably a few songs that I really could pick out for her. I was very, very musical from a young age and always had the passion for it.”
