“Well I remember the first album that I owned. It was mine, but I didn't buy it. I won it on a radio program. It was Andrae Crouch and the Disciples' Live in London. It was a double album. I won that and concert tickets on a mainstream radio show. At that time, there wasn't any Christian radio stations, certainly not in Paducah, Kentucky, where I grew up.

“I don't think I'd ever won anything in my life before that. I remember being so excited about that. I just couldn't believe it. I went to the concert and was deeply impacted by it. As a matter of fact, I'm sure that's when the first little seed was planted. I had never really experienced anything like that in a live music setting, and it was really something to sit at a concert and watch a band that was so incredible. I had the album, so I was able to listen and re-live the experience over and over again.”
