“Things are so different now than they were back then. When I was 16 years old, I think that I had a grand total of about four albums in my collection. I’m certain that at least two of them were Barney Kessel records, and I’ll wager that one of those was the first album that I ever bought.

“My early albums were all jazz guitar records. That’s what I was into very heavily between the ages of 15 and 19 anyway. I was a total jazz head, and I loved listening to American jazz records. Probably the other two records I owned were by Kenny Burrell and Wes Montgomery.”
