“Of course, back in those days, it was more about singles than albums. Artists put out singles until they had enough to put out an album.

“Buddy Holly was very influential in my early guitar-playing life, and the blues stuff was all those Chess blues recordings -- ‘The Best of Muddy Waters,’ ‘Best of Little Walter’ and the Sonny Boy Williamson recordings. And ‘Best of Howlin’ Wolf.’ ”
