“Albums were for adults in those days. I think I bought one when I was ten, but I can’t remember. I know that I got that Rolling Stones live record, ‘Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out,’ and that must have been very close to the first album that I bought.

“But I had a cousin who was a little bit older who gave me a lot of her old albums by Jefferson Airplane and Simon & Garfunkel when I was like 11 years old.

“It wasn’t until I was about 12 years old that I was purchasing albums regularly, but I bought singles before that. I had one of those old kiddie turntables, and I'm not even sure that it went to 33 1/3 RPM speed.”
