DAVID HARRINGTON
Violinist with avant classical ensemble the Kronos Quartet
“I joined the Columbia House Record Club for a penny when I was about 12 years old, and one of the five or six records that I got was the Budapest String Quartet playing Beethoven's Opus 127. And that's why I started playing in a quartet. It's all thanks to that penny. I just remember listening to those opening e-flat chords, and thinking, 'Wow! This is fantastic.' I started playing violin when I was nine and I got that album when I was 12. I just wanted to try to make that kind of a sound myself. And basically, that's what I've been trying to do ever since.”
