“The first record that I bought was ‘Blueberry Hill’ by Fats Domino, but it was a gift for my brother.
“When I really became a record purchaser was when the folk explosion started in the ‘60s, so it was probably a Joan Baez album. I was really into Baez and Dylan, Ian & Sylvia and Tom Rush, and it was through them that I got turned onto the folk-blues records by people like Son House and Mance Lipscomb.
“I really got turned on to music initially through folk music, but I really can’t think of the first record album that I ever bought.
“That’s a great question, and I’m really sorry that I have no answer for you. Obviously, I’m trying to think of something extremely cool.”
