“It was the ‘Snoopy Vs. the Red Baron’ album by the Royal Guardsmen. I bought it for the title song -- I always loved the little snare drum part that signified the bullets -- and the other Snoopy songs on side one. Side two was all Royal Guardsmen English pop songs.

“I thought I was being hip, discovering something cool and hidden away, the beginnings of my career as a record dork. But I learned quickly how horrifying a silly love song could be (‘I say LOVE keeps running through my mind...’).

“I think I still have the record somewhere at my parents’ house.”
